About Me

Your Gateway to Japan’s Remote Work Capital

Hey there — I’m glad you found your way here.

My name’s Taylor, and I created this site because I genuinely believe something special is happening in Fukuoka’s tech scene. While Tokyo and Osaka tend to dominate the spotlight when it comes to startups and software, I’ve always felt that Fukuoka has this quiet, underrated brilliance — a growing community of developers, designers, digital nomads, and founders who are building seriously cool things.

And yet, no one seemed to be telling those stories. So I decided to start.

This blog is my attempt to document, celebrate, and connect the dots between all the amazing people and projects shaping Fukuoka’s startup ecosystem. Whether you’re a local entrepreneur trying to get traction, a freelance developer looking for community, or someone abroad who’s curious about life and work in one of Japan’s most livable cities — this site is for you.

Why I Started This Blog

I’ve worked with WordPress for over a decade, and I’m constantly amazed at how it powers everything from tiny personal blogs to enterprise websites. In Fukuoka especially, I’ve noticed more and more startups, freelancers, and creatives using global tools like WordPress, Notion, GitHub, and Slack to build their ideas — often in English and Japanese at the same time.

But despite the talent and innovation here, the ecosystem still flies under the radar. So I wanted to create a space that shines a light on:

  • Local startups and their tech stacks
  • Freelancers and remote workers building careers in Japan
  • Coworking spaces and community hubs worth knowing about
  • How international tech tools are adapted for local needs

This site isn’t meant to be just another blog — it’s a bridge between global tech and Japanese creativity. It’s part personal journal, part startup directory, part community showcase.

What You’ll Find Here

Here’s what I write about most often:

  • Fukuoka Startup Spotlights – Interviews with founders, devs, and product leads about what they’re building, the tools they use, and the challenges of growing a business in Japan.
  • Remote Work & Digital Nomad Life – Honest takes on what it’s like to work remotely from Fukuoka, how to find community, and what freelancers need to know to thrive here.
  • Coworking Guides – I’ve personally tested dozens of workspaces across Fukuoka. I break them down by vibe, speed, seating, and price so you don’t waste your yen or your time.
  • Global Tools, Local Tweaks – Deep dives into how Japanese teams customize tools like WordPress, Figma, or Trello to fit bilingual workflows, cultural preferences, and local regulations.

And I’m slowly building out some helpful downloads — starter kits, checklists, and bilingual WordPress resources for freelancers and small teams.

Who This Is For

  • Developers, designers, and creators in Fukuoka (or moving here)
  • Digital nomads and freelancers trying to make Japan their base
  • Local business owners curious about global tools like WordPress
  • Startups that want to be seen, supported, and shared
  • Anyone who loves clean code, great coffee, and a strong community

Whether you’re building something big or just getting started, you’re welcome here.
